If you are looking for ways to fix up your home for selling I am willing to bet your agent has a long list of costly things that you need to do in order to sell your house. If you are looking to make money, and not spend it, try some of these things instead.
Clean your house. I know it sounds so simple, but a clean and fresh smelling house will sell faster than one that hasnt been properly cleaned. Purchase some citrus oil cleaners for a nice fresh scent and scrub, scrub, scrub. If you are afraid that doing it yourself is too much work you can splurge and hire a cleaning service to come in and do it the first time, and then you just have to keep up with it. This way everything will sparkle and shine, and therefore look like new!
Paint it all. Paint the exterior and interior of the house. This will help your house look newer, and it will make your walls look better. A fresh coat of paint can bring life to a dull and dingy room If you have bright or wild colors on your walls,
it is best to replace them with neutrals, that way the buyer can imagine the colors they enjoy on the walls. The colors you have in the room might be absolutely stunning in the room, but I am willing to bet that there are a handful of buyers that will be looking at your house that have a very strong emotional response to that color.
Instead of buying new furniture, try slip covers or reupholstering it. This will give your old items new life, and save you a fortune. Have just enough furniture to make the room feel comfortable. You dont want to fill a room up with furniture, but you dont want it to look empty either. Having the right furniture in a room can sell a house, not because people are looking to buy your furniture, but because good furniture shows off the dimensions of the room properly.
Selling your house shouldnt cost you a fortune. By spending a small amount of money you should be able to get your house in selling shape, and then you can spend that money on making your new house exactly how you want it!
